What is freedom? What a ridiculous question. I have no idea. Something to do with America? Hell no. Here is what I do know: spontaneity makes me joyful. Particularly the careening giddy kind. It makes me feel that anything is possible, that any movement is possible, than any words are possible and any creative expression. It makes me feel that I’m not doing any of it, and oh Lord, that is a flavour of freedom I cannot and will not do without. In this evening exploration, I will teach you all an astounding movement sequence that is more than 20,000 years old, first depicted on cave art in southern France, then emulated throughout the cave-person underground until codified by the legendary Yellow Emperor Huang Di in 2696 BC and almost immediately stolen by his notorious concubine Wi Zetian, who shared it with some proto-European barbarian, who then shared it with the Templars – those guys! – until Columbus brought it to the New World that was actually a very Old World much better off before the Italians. And so on and so forth until I learned it from a hobo while riding the rails. And now I pass it on to you. And then we will meditate._____
