Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics – North Carolina

Art of Living Retreat Centre in North Carolina

Welcome to Meditation Retreat for Fidgety Skeptics. Think of this in-person weekend retreat in the North Carolina mountains as Being Human School: a relaxed and practical distillation of what meditators have been learning for 3,000 years. There will be meditation, also,  jokes.

Important Note: The Art of Living’s Covid safety protocols here. Things change quickly with Covid and the variants, so please know this event is subject to postponement or cancellation depending on the latest safety concerns, travel advisories, and shifting local regulations. My team and I try to monitor all this closely.

Each day we’ll do about four-hours of silent and / or guided meditation (with an option for more), all of it broken up with movement and breaks, sharing and discussion. Our focus will be on exploring the core skills trained across many meditation techniques: the deep pleasures of sustained concentration, the electric zing of clarity and insight, the smooth super-juice of equanimity, and, finally, the transformative power of compassion and care. That includes self-compassion, for all you perfectionists.

From these fine ingredients, so many good things come.

As always, the community will be the real teacher. I’m always amazed at the wisdom that bubbles up when people get honest about their lives and practice. We all have something to teach each other about being human. There’s no hierarchy from this perspective: no special artist over here, or enlightened person over there.

The more we understand about how the dynamics of meditation work, we more we can customize our practice to suit our unique situations and temperaments.  And then we pass it on, so the practice can find its unique expression in someone else. This is how sanity becomes a social movement.

Look forward to hanging out 6-feet away from you!

Jeff

Testimonials

Jeff Warren is available for speaking engagements“I had such a life changing experience at Jeff’s retreat.  It was like for the first time in my life I truly felt appreciated for who I am.”

“The most valuable gift Jeff offered me isn’t meditation techniques, it’s that deep knowledge that I’m actually able to disconnect, to sit still, to quiet my mind and to genuinely enjoy my own company. Jeff has an awesome, genuine, unpretentious voice, and a personality to match. He’s a breath of fresh air within the serious meditation communities I’ve been a part of.”

“Jeff Warren is a wonderful teacher for those of us just beginning to get deeper into a meditation practice. I have no doubt he can support more experienced/seasoned mediators as well. I found him down to earth, easily able to relate to. A really positive and welcoming experience for me.”

“Jeff Warren uses humor and his own experiences to de-mystify meditation in a way that makes it accessible to anyone!”
