Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics: A Livestream Workshop

Registration is open

This retreat is streamed live from Omega’s Rhinebeck campus.

Think of this weekend retreat as a relaxed and practical distillation of what meditators have been learning for 3,000 years. There will be meditation, some movement, some sharing and discussion. This isn’t three days in a cave of silence. Also: there will be jokes.

Every time I host this retreat I emphasize different things. The curriculum, if you want to call it that, changes. It reflects where I am in my own learning and practice and life. Being human takes practice – apparently that never goes away. But it does get more playful over time, less an onerous obligation, more a grateful remembering of the basic fluency and creativity and potential for connection available in each moment.

What doesn’t change is the exploration. We always explore, in real time, the core existential skills that get trained in meditation. We learn to adjust the dials on our concentration and our care, on our mindful clarity and our equanimity, and, of course, on our exquisite nature-given right to do nothing whatsoever. The more we understand about how meditation works in our own peculiar nervous systems, the more confident we feel about about being our own life teacher.

And then we pass it on, so the practice can find its unique expression in someone else. This is how sanity becomes a social movement.

This online retreat is designed for total beginners as well as more experienced practitioners.

For registered participants, this workshop will be available on demand for 60 days after it is posted.

Testimonials

“Jeff is a fantastic teacher: funny, empathetic, open-hearted, wise, and smart as a whip. The workshop was a game-changer for my meditation practice.”

“Jeff Warren is a wonderful teacher for those of us just beginning to get deeper into a meditation practice. I have no doubt he can support more experienced/seasoned mediators as well. I found him down to earth, easily able to relate to and a teacher I would be interested in taking a longer meditation retreat with. A really positive and welcoming experience for me.”

“It was a fantastic program that was able to reach people of many different levels of meditation experience. Jeff Warren uses humour and his own experiences to de-mystify meditation in a way that makes it accessible to anyone!”

“Jeff Warren did a fantastic job! He is an excellent speaker and teacher and I’d be thrilled to attend any program he offers in the future.”
